Nine arrested within a week in Bee Lin

HURFOM: In Bee Lin Township, Mon State, nine residents including a gold shop owner and a teacher allegedly involved in the civil disobedience movement (CDM) were arrested by the military junta.

On July 26, the military, the police and the ward Administrator arrested two residents from Ward #8 and three residents from Sa Yar San Ward, Bee Lin Town. Four residents from Taung Soon village were also arrested.

Those arrested include Ko Zaw Win Oo, a gold shop owner, Daw Aye Aye Khine, a teacher and a private bank employee Ma Ei Phyu.

The junta informed the family of gold shop owner Ko Zaw Win Oo, to pay a ransom for his release. The remaining eight residents have been interrogated by the military,” said a local source.

The junta charged the detainees under the Anti-Terrorism Act section #505(A).
