Villager injured by landmine along Ye-Thanbyuzayat Road

HURFOM: On July 23, 2023, a plantation worker stepped on a landmine as he was walking along Ye-Thanbyuzayat Highway Road near Aung Thar Yar village, Ye Township, Mon State.

The victim is 47-year-old Nai Ah Pin, from Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township. He stepped on the landmine while cutting grass at his plantation.  His injuries included the loss of a finger.

He was sent to Lamine Hospital for further treatment. No one knows who planted the landmine,” said a resident.

Aung Thar Yar village has been the site of frequent armed clashes between the Burmese army and the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army and the People’s Defense Forces.

Landmine explosions have also frequently occurred at Kyoe Da Dar Chaung Bridge nearby Bay Ka Hwelve village, Lamine Town, Ye Township.  At least five residents had been injured by the blasts.
