NLD lawmaker’s house seized in Kyaikmayaw

HURFOM: On June 20, 2023, the military junta sealed and seized the house of Daw Khin Myo Myint, a Mon State lawmaker with the National League for Democracy (NLD) party in the #2 constituency of Kyaikmayaw Township, Mon State.

Since 2021, Daw Khin Myo Myint was accused of contributing to “anti-dictatorship strikes” and charged under Act #505(a) of the  anti terrorist act. She had to run away and is in hiding, said a Kyaikmayaw resident.

According to the resident, officials from the 208th Light Infantry Battalion, police officers and the Chief of the Kyaikmayaw Township General Administration Department came to Daw Khin Myo Myint’s house on Ba Nyar Nwe Street, Shin Saw Pu Ward #3, Kyaikmayaw Town and sealed and seized the house.

The homes of other NLD lawmakers in Mudon, Paung, Thaton and Bee Lin Townships were also sealed and seized by the military junta.
