HURFOM: The military junta is opening their 16th Batch of the Military Training for Conscripts and it has ordered each village or ward to send two young men to the training.
The Administrators from Ta Ra Nar, Kaw That, Kaw Doon, Kyune Kone, Kaw Ka Line, Kha Yone and Kyike Pa Ran villages, Kyikemayaw Township, Mon State called a meeting and informed villagers that each household must pay 15,000 MMK monthly to hire substitutes for conscripts.

“The junta has demanded two young men from each village. There are no young men in the village. So, the Administrator has collected money and hired substitutes to join the training,” said a Kyikemayaw resident.
For the 15th Batch, Administrators in Kyikemayaw Township did not collect money for a “conscription fee”; however, they have started collecting money for the 16th Batch.
“The Administrators threatened that if someone fails to pay, family members would be arrested. If their son was working abroad, the father would be arrested and jailed,” said a villager.
HURFOM was informed that local authorities threatened villagers, claiming that the Township Public Conscription Summon Committee and the Village Administrator were authorized to arrest and jail a family member for three or six months, for failure to pay the “conscription fee”.
The military junta has organized 15 military trainings for conscripts in Mon State and more than 2,500 young men have been forcefully collected as conscripts.
