HURFOM: On June 7th, 2025, the military junta used a fighter jet to drop bombs on Kyauk Eye and Mell Kell villages, Taung Pyauk region, Tha Yet Chaung Township, Tenasserim Division.
There was no active armed clash in the area, yet the fighter jet dropped two bombs on Kyauk Eye village and another two bombs on Mell Kell village. The air assaults killed a father and son and injured six villagers, according to the statement by the Karen National Union on June 8th.
One bomb exploded near a house in Zee Pin Chaung Phyar Ward, Kyauk Eye village, and the explosion killed 55-year-old U Than Aung and his 10-year-old son Saw Than Win Htwe.

Six villagers including his wife were injured and a house and car were also destroyed.
“It might have been a 200-pound bomb. U Than Aung and his son were hit by the debris and died on the spot. The house and the car were also destroyed. His wife and injured villagers are receiving treatment, but we don’t know their condition exactly,” said a local source.
The villagers said even though there were no active armed clashes in Taung Pyauk region, Tha Yet Chaung Township at the moment, the junta has been launching air assaults since March, 2025.
“There were no armed clashes. They deliberately dropped the bombs. The attack happened suddenly so the villagers didn’t know what to do. They just run away in any direction,” said a villager.
On March 3rd, the military junta used a fighter jet to attack a “closing ceremony” of a school run by the National Unity Government and the attack injured four residents including a 10-year-old child.
According to data collected by HURFOM, at least 28 civilians have been killed and 126 injured by junta air assaults in Mon, Karen and Tenasserim regions from January to May, 2025.
