Artillery remnant explosion kills four and injures nine villagers in Kyarinnseikyi

HURFOM: According to local sources, on June 3rd, 2025, an explosion of artillery remnants killed four villagers and injured nine others in Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State.
Villagers found an unexploded artillery shell on a road between Lut Shan and Mell Ka Lu villages; it exploded when they tried to remove it.
“The villagers found the artillery shell and tried to remove it. Other villagers came to watch what they did. I’m not sure if they accidentally hit the shell. We also don’t know when the shell dropped,” said a local source.
The nine injured victims are receiving medical treatment in a village clinic in Win Ye Township, Du Pa Lar Yar District of the Karen National Union.
The incident took place close to the Well Ka Li and the Maw Ka Nin Artillery Regiments and the Lut Shan military base.
