13-year-old girl raped and killed in Mawlamyine Township

HURFOM: On May 26th, 2025, a 13-year-old girl from Kaw Sein village, Mawlamyine Township, Mon State was raped and killed.
The young girl was in the fifth grade of the Kaw Sein Basic Education Primary School.
The girl left her house at 7 am on May 26th to pick up coconuts and she disappeared. Her dead body was found on May 28th.
“Her dead body was found in an abandoned plantation. She was raped. She died from cut wounds at her neck, right eyebrow and upper lip,” said a local source.
Locals reported HURFOM that the police have arrested and interrogated two male suspects.
“Children are frequently missing in Mawlamyine. Then, it’s difficult to find them again. As the rule of law is failed, there is a growing number of criminals. This news is a terrible one for the parents,” said a parent.
In February, 2025, a father attempted to rape his own underaged daughter in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State.
