HURFOM: In March and April, 2025, 261 Burmese citizens who attempted to enter Thailand via the “Three Pagoda Pass – Kanchanaburi” route, were arrested by the Thai Border Guard Force. They did not have the proper immigration documentation.
Most of those arrested entered Thailand by trucks and boats while some of them entered Thailand on foot via jungle routes. Each of them paid between 10,000 to 15,000 Thai Baht to the brokers for transportation and service fees.

“They used every possible way to enter Thailand. The brokers defined the routes. Everyone who came to Thailand by trucks, by boats or on foot was arrested. The brokers told them to wait for them at a certain place but they didn’t come to pick them up. That’s why they were arrested,” said a local source.
The Thai Border Guard Force has detained all the arrested but some of them who could pay a ransom were released.
The Thai Border Guard Force announced that they had arrested roughly 560 undocumented Burmese citizens between January to April, 2025 and stated they would be returned to Burma.
