Junta’s artillery attack injures grandma and grandchild in Kyarinnseikyi

HURFOM: On May 8th, 2025, the 284th Strategic Regiment launched an artillery attack on Ah Lell Yaw village, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State that injured a grandmother and her grandchild. Locals confirmed there was no active armed clash at the time of the attack.

The artillery shell exploded on a noodle shop near the village high school and injured a 50-year-old local woman and her 10-year-old grandchild.
“The grandma sustained an injury from artillery debris that hit her chest. She received treatment at the Mawlamyine General Hospital,” said a local villager.
Despite a temporary ceasefire in April, 2025, the junta’s air assaults and artillery attacks killed 71 women across Burma, according to a statement by the Burma Women Union (BWU).
