Two young men arrested by junta in Kyike Hto

HURFOM: During the night of May 6th, 2025, the military junta arrested 20-year-old Min Khant from Zay Yar Mon Ward, Kyike Hto Town, Mon State. Then, on May 8th, the junta arrested 18-year-old Zwell Marn Oo from Taung Kalay village, Kyike Hto Township, Mon State.
Excessive force was used during both arrests, which took place in the young men’s respective homes.
The junta has accused both young men of having a connection with the People’s Defense Force (PDF)
“Min Khant was arrested first and then; the next one was arrested. Pro military sources say it’s a series of arrests,” said a Kyike Hto resident.
The two young men have been detained and interrogated at the 44th military battalion and they have not been allowed to meet their family members.
According to the Assistance Association for the Political Prisoners (AAPP), the military junta had arrested 29,000 civilians under various accusations as of May 9th, 2025.
