Frequent aerial patrols force local villagers to flee their homes

HURFOM: Since the first week of May, 2025, a military junta Y-12 fighter jet has been flying over Matt Ka Thar village, near Three Pagoda Pass Town, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State at least twice a day, causing some villagers have been flee their homes.
The villagers are afraid of possible air assaults. Some have taken a safe shelter in nearby forests, mountains or plantations. Some have moved to the downtown community of Three Pagoda Pass.

“The aircraft flies over the village at least twice a day. Everyone is afraid that the aircraft will drop bombs,” said a resident.
On April 26, 2025, the Y-12 military aircraft dropped 30 bombs on a lead mine situated on the other bank of Matt Ka Thar village. Local sources reported to HURFOM that since that attack, there have been frequent aircraft patrols over the village.
Matt Ka Thar village is just six miles from Three Pagoda Pass and its population is approximately 1,000. Now, half the population has fled in search of safe shelter.
