Artillery attack damages home and school in Boat Pyin

HURFOM: On May 5^th, 2025, the 559^th and the 560^th Light Infantry Battalions, both based in Lay Nyar village, Boat Pyin Township, launched artillery attacks targeting Pyi Gyi Man Die Town, Boat Pyin Town, Tenasserim Division.  There were no active armed clashes in the nearby area at the time of the attack. The junta’s attack damaged a house and a school building.

One artillery shell exploded at a junction in Pyi Gyi Man Die Town and the explosion damaged the house of Ma Hnin Hnin Htay and a building of the middle school.

“There were artillery attacks on Pyi Gyi Man Die Town until the evening. A wooden building of the middle school was damaged,” said a local man.

Then, in the morning on May 7^th, the joint revolutionary forces attacked the Pyi Gyi Man Die Police Station and the battle broke out that lasted until evening. HURFOM has not been able to confirm the extent of damage or casualties.

Leaders of local militia groups secretly warned their relatives and friends to move out of Pyi Gyi Man Die Town on April 7^th at the latest.

On April 28^th, the junta targeted Boat Pyin Township with an indiscriminate drone attack that injured a Grade-10 schoolgirl. There were no active armed clashes in the area.
