Local man shot and killed in Thanbyuzayat

HURFOM: On May 2nd, 2025, a group of six gunmen shot and killed a 41-year-old local man, U Than Soe aka Ko Thar Gyi in Htin Shue village, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State.
Ko Thar Gyi was shot in his abdomen and died at the spot. His dead body was sent to the Thanbyuzayat Township General Hospital.
“Ko Thar Gyi was repairing a motorbike in his repair shop when the gunmen secretly arrived at the shop. They shot him about ten times. Then, they run away. After hearing a gunshot sound, the soldiers arrived, blocked the road and conducted an investigation,” said a local source.
The local villagers said the revolutionary groups shot and killed Ko Thar Gyi as he had a connection with the military junta.
The military junta has tightened security after the incident and banned movement at night as of May 6th.
As of today, none of the revolutionary forces has released a statement about the shooting and killing.
