HURFOM: On April 7th, 2025, military troops from the Mawrawaddy Navy Unit advanced into Kyauk Hta Yan village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division, and then withdrew from the village the next day.
During their retreat, the regiment arrested 50-year-old U Than Than, a Kyuak Hta Yan resident, and 40-year-old Ko Nine-Nine, a Phyu Nut villager.
According to a local source, the two arrested were finally released on April 30th, 2025.

U Than Than is a restaurant owner while Ko Nine Nine operates a fish farm.
“They were taken to the Mawrawaddy Navy Command. They were told they would be released after the Songkran but it didn’t happen. Both of them were released at noon, three weeks after their arrest,” said the source.
The regiment used the men as human shields, for a military advance. The source said the men were not beaten or tortured.
To re-establish the Dawei Special Economic Zone, the junta launched military operations in villages around the zone, including Zar De village track, and has cut off electricity and the telecommunication network in the area.
