Junta arrest and detains 24 migrant workers and displaced persons in Dawei

HURFOM: On March 25th, 2025, the 401st Light Infantry Battalion forcefully occupied a residential barrack in Eain Shay Pyin Ward, Dawei City, Tenasserim Division and arrested 24 tenants.
11 men and 13 women in the 20-60 years range were arrested after being accused of supporting the People’s Defense Force.
“Most of the arrested are migrant workers and displaced villagers. They have been living in the building for a long time,” said a local source.
The arrested are being detained at the Dawei City Police Station and the 401st Light Infantry Battalion. No one has been released as of today.
In early 2025, the junta arrested seven residents including a CDM school teacher under similar accusations and they too have not been released.
