HURFOM: On February 14th, 2025, the Mon State Chief Minister, U Aung Kyi Thein organized a ceremony to provide monetary support to displaced villagers across Mon State. The junta claimed the Mon State government had supported each displaced villager with 20,000 MMK. The total amount of support amounts to 370 million MMK. However, displaced villagers said they have not received any monetary support from the junta.
Displaced villagers in Ye Chaung Pyar region have received rice, food and monetary support but only from non-government donors. They have never received monetary support from the junta, a displaced villager told HURFOM.
“We even don’t know that the junta claimed it provided monetary support. The displaced villagers in Sone Na Thar village didn’t get the money,” said one displaced resident.

However, a few displaced villagers in Yeh Town had received monetary support from the junta in January, 2025.
“The displaced persons in Ye Town got the money last month. But I don’t know how much they got. The displaced villagers who have been taking shelter in the forests, mountains and rubber plantations didn’t get money from the junta. They’ve just got support from non-government donors,” said a social worker who helps the displaced community.
There have been frequent and constant armed clashes across Mon State between the military junta and the armed revolutionary forces. With numerous military advances, artillery attacks and air assaults launched by the military junta, more than 200,000 residents in Mon State have been forced to flee their homes.
