HURFOM: Since December 1st, 2023, there have been constant armed clashes between the military junta and the Karen National Liberation Army in Kaw Ka Rate Town, Kaw Ka Rate Township, Karen State and ten thousand of residents have been forced to flee their homes.

Junta’s troops have stationed themselves in Kaw Ka Rate Town and have burgled the homes of displaced persons. They have looted every valuable thing and sold them to make money.

“A few people stay in the town and they’re a pro-military group. Most residents have fled. The troops took everything and nothing is left in the houses,” said a local source.

Residents whose homes have been broken into, and suffered losses from theft see no possible way to get justice.

Now, Kaw Ka Rate Town is totally under the control of the military. No one dares to file a report against them,” said a displaced person from Kaw Ka Rate.

Junta troops are also stationed in Chaung Taung, Htan Pin Gone, Shan Pine, Win Gyi, Myo Taw Oo, Sin Gone Kaw Nwe, Yaw Thit Kone, Kyauk Sa Rit Gone and nearby villages making local residents unable to return home and protect their property.

Due to constant and heavy armed clashes, more than 10,000 residents from seven wards in Kaw Ka Rate Town and more than 17,000 residents from 24 villages have fled from their homes.
