Junta arrests young man and forces him to serve as conscript in Mudon

HURFOM: According to local sources, at about 1 am on December 15th, 2024, the 210th light infantry battalion arrested a young man who had just returned from a festive event in Mudon Town, Mon State, according to local sources.
“We don’t know the age of the young man. He encountered the soldiers when coming back from a festive event. He was blindfolded and arrested,” said a source close to his family.
After the arrest, the soldiers forced him to contact his mother. “The young man himself phoned his mother and said, “Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll return home after serving conscription for two years,” said the source.
The military junta has been struggling to get an adequate number of conscripts for the 8th batch of military training. They postponed the opening ceremony of the 8th batch because of low numbers.
The military junta has been forcing the village and ward Administrators to collect more conscripts and the junta itself has been arresting innocent young men making false accusations and forcing them to serve as conscripts.
