HURFOM: In the first week of December, 2024, the Karen National Liberation Army and its allied forces attacked the junta’s “Taung Tone Lone” and “Ka Tie Hti” military bases, and heavy armed clashes followed.
Resistance forces now control the “Taung Tone Lone” base but the armed clashes are still intense at the “Ka Tie Hti” military base.
The intense fighting has forced 500 residents from Ma Htaw, Ku Sake, Sin Swel and Htaw Kha Lay Khee villages, Phar Pon Township to flee to Bilin Township, Mon State.
“Hundreds of villagers have fled their homes. No one was left in the village. Now, the armed clash is ongoing. We’ve fled to Bilin but some villagers are still hiding in nearby forest and mountain,” said a displaced person.
Because it is now winter season, displaced villagers are in urgent need of food, shelter, medicine and warm clothing, reported one resident.
