Twenty children disappear without a trace in Three Pagoda Pass

HURFOM: According to local sources, in the third week of November, 2024, 13 children from Taung Wine Ward, Three Pagoda Pass Town, Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State have disappeared without a trace. On the single day of December 6th, 2024, another seven children suffered the same fate.
The disappeared children are within 8 to 10 years and one four-year-old child is among them. To date there has been no update on their whereabouts and the parents are very worried about their lives and safety.
“As of today, we’ve heard nothing about the missing children. We don’t know who took them away. Their mothers are worrying about them very much,” said a Three Pagoda Pass resident.
The parents have been filing reports with the ethnic armed organizations in Three Pagoda Pass but there has been no update or improvement.
“Missing reports have been filed with the Karen ethnic armed groups. But there has been no update as of today,” said a local source.
According to local sources, one of the seven missing children who disappeared on December 6th has returned home but there is no trace of the other children.
“We’ve heard one of the missing children has been found. Authorities have questioned the child. But we don’t know what happened exactly,” said a local source.
In the third week of November, 2024, four teenagers from Maw Ka Nin village, Ye Township, Mon State disappeared but were found three days later.
