Junta shoots two men riding same motorbike and injures another

HURFOM: On December 4th, 2024, junta’s forces shot two men who were riding the same motorbike in Yar Phu village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and one of them was injured by the shooting.

Yar Phu residents – 35-year-old Ko Min Khant and his friend were returning to the village from Ye Town by motorbike when junta troops at the “Kalop security gate” shot at them.

Ko Min Khant sustained a gunshot injury to his leg, according to a source close to his family.

We don’t know if two men can’t ride the same motorbike. They said nothing when we passed the gate. But they shot us from the rear. Min Khan was injured in his leg,” said his friend who drove the motorbike.

Nine days after the shooting, junta troops sent Ko Min Khant to the Ye General Hospital for treatment.

On October 27th, a 35-year-old local man was beaten by security forces at the gate near the bridge in Ka Lane Aung Town, Yebyu Township. The forces said he did not stop his bike at the gate.

Ko Tun Lin just returned from Thailand and he didn’t know (to stop his bike at the gate). The junta’s forces stopped him and beat him three or four times. Then, they also beat him with their rifles on his head and back. He suffered a wound to his head and needed three stitches at the Ka Lane Aung Hospital,” said a local villager.

On October 20th, two plantation workers riding on one motorbike were shot by the Mawrawaddy Navy Command and one of them got injured.

Since February 1, 2021, the date of the attempted coup, the junta has imposed martial law in Ye Township, Mon State and Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division and decreed a ban for two men to ride the same motorbike in the townships.
