Three local women injured by junta’s drone attack in Tenasserim

HURFOM: On September 23rd, 2024, the military junta used drones to drop bombs on Nyaung Pin Gone village, Ban La Mut village track, Tenasserim Township, Tenasserim Division and the attack injured three local women.

The junta believed members of the People’s Defense Force were in the village and the 306th artillery regiment based in eastern Maw Tone used a huge drone and dropped bombs on the village in the morning.

The bombs exploded on the “Union” Highway Road near Nyaung Pin Gone village and injured 60-year-old Daw Tin Ye, 30-year-old Daw Nyein Nyein Yu and Daw Ka Moe.

They thought there were members of the PDF and dropped bombs. The three women were waiting to go shopping when they suffered from the bomb explosion,” said a Nyaung Pin Gone resident.

Daw Tin Ye sustained injuries to her ear and right thigh while Daw Nyein Nyein Yu suffered a hand injury. Daw Ka Moe sustained injuries to both legs.  All three have been receiving treatment at the Myeik General Hospital as of September 30th.

It isn’t life-threatening. At first they were admitted to the military hospital in Myeik but the junta refused to accept them. Now, they are receiving treatment at the public hospital,” said a local source.

On September 11th, the junta’s drone attack also injured three women and one man from Kywel Htein Gone village, Tenasserim Township.  Each of those victims lost their lives due to belated treatment.
