Junta trains 50 civilians to form “Public Security Team” in Ye Township

HURFOM: Since September 16th, 2024, the military junta had selected 50 middle-aged civilians from Mar Lar Ward, Ye Town and R Yu Taung, Too Myaung, Ah Sin, Ah Baw and nearby villages, Ye Twonship, Mon State and provided a military training at the 19th Military Operation Command based in Ye Town. The junta has planned to form a “Public Security Team” with those candidates.
“The training will last for two weeks. This batch has included 50 villagers. At least five residents per village have to join the training. The junta has given each candidate 8,500 MMK per day,” said a resident from Ye Township.
The majority of the training are middle-aged men who are in the 35-60 age range, continued the source.
“The military has threatened the village/ward administrators to collect candidates for the “Public Security Team” so they have to follow the order unconditionally,” said a source closed to a junta-appointed administrator in Ye Township.
On August 27th, 2024, the junta had instructed the administrators in Ye Township to collect 15 middle-aged men per village/ward who were in the 35-65 age range to form “Public Security Team”.
In Chaung Zone Township, Mon State, in order to pressure the administrators and local villagers to form “Public Security Team”, about 30 junta’s troops has entered Ka Mar Moe village and stationed themselves on the hill of village pagoda.
“The junta has worried if the villagers don’t follow the order of the administrators so they’ve come themselves to pressure them,” said a resident form Ka Mar Moe village.
The junta has collected young men in the 18-35 age range to join the military under the “Public Conscription Law” and now, they have targeted middle-aged men in the 35-65 age range to form the “Public Security and Anti-Terrorism Team”.
