Junta’s artillery attack kills a civilian in Pa La

HURFOM: On August 5th, 2024, the joint resistance forces attacked the junta’s troops in the military check-point in front of the Pa La Town Police Station in Pu Law Township, Myeik District, Tenasserim Division.

The police station responded with indiscriminate artillery attacks and the attack killed 24-year-old Ko Zaw Win Htut who was native to Pa La Town.

The artillery shell dropped and exploded in Pa La market. The deceased person was the nephew of the Pa La Administrator. Recently, a female vendor was also killed by the junta’ artillery attack,” said a Pa La resident.

Frequent and indiscriminate artillery attacks initiated by the Pa La Police Station have caused numerous civilian casualties.  Residents near the station are now planning to move away.

There are many villagers who lost their arms and legs. They lost body parts due to the artillery attacks. It’s too dangerous so residents are planning to move away,” said another Pa La resident.

Also on July 28th, the Pa La Town Police Station launched an indiscriminate artillery attack despite no armed clash and the artillery explosion killed a local woman and injured a man and a woman.
