Young man arrested in Kan Bauk

HURFOM: On August 4, 2024, a young man from Zar D village, Kan Bauk area, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim was arrested by the military junta.
A local villager reported to HURFOM that a 20-year-old Ko Than Htike from Yaw Ma Ward, Zar D village was arrested by the junta’s troops who were hiding near the bridge between Zar D and Khaung Pyan villages.
“We went to pick up two villagers from Phar Chaung Inn village. He encountered soldiers who were in hiding and was interrogated. Then, they accused him of having a connection with the PDF and arrested him,” said the local source.
Ko Than Htike has been detained at the Kan Bauk based Mawrawaddy Navy Command and has not been released as of today.
Military operations and indiscriminate artillery attacks have forced Zar D residents to flee their homes since June, 2024, but in early July, some villagers started to return the village.
