Four remaining Khaung Pyan residents released

HURFOM: On July 1st, 2024, the military regiment arrested eight local men from Zar D and Khaung Pyan villages, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division.
On July 3rd and 4rth, three Zar D residents and a Khaung Pyan resident were found dead in a stream in Khaung Pyan.
On July 6th, 2024, the four remaining Khaung Pyan residents were released and returned to their homes, local residents reported HURFOM.

“The three men aren’t native to Khaung Pyan. They are migrant workers from a rubber plantation. They were released by the regiment. A Zar D resident ran away and escaped during the military operation,” said a resident.
On June 18th, the junta launched a military operation targeting villages in Dawei Deep Seaport area, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division forcing 10,000 residents to flee their homes.
