Junta’s night search frightens residents in Lamine

HURFOM: At about 8 pm on June 29th, 2024, military junta troops conducted a door-to-door night search in some wards in Lamine Town, Ye Township, Mon State that frightened local residents.
The junta conducted the search after the Maw Ka Nin based, 106th light infantry battalion was attacked by resistance forces. Junta forces claimed they were checking for men staying in the houses.
“In fact, they didn’t come to check men but they wanted to check if there were any members of the PDF. All men had to stay in hiding that night,” said a Lamine resident.
Whenever military bases are attacked by resistance forces, the junta tightens security and launches indiscriminate artillery attacks, causing civilian casualties and damaging residential houses.
“At the moment, the situation in this area isn’t peaceful,” said a Lamine resident.
Within the last two weeks, indiscriminate attacks launched by the 106th light infantry battalion and the 317th regiment injured nine residents, including children.
