Two civilians injured in a shooting at funeral in Bilin

HURFOM: On June 9th, 2024, two unknown gunmen attacked a funeral event of a police sergeant in Pauk Kwel village, Pauk Taw village track, Bilin Township, Mon state, killing two police informants. Two civilians were also injured in the attack.
13-year-old Maung Yell Htut Naung and 30-year-old Ma Zin Mar have gunshot wounds in their legs.
“The gunmen knew two police informants were at the funeral event so they came to attack them. Everyone at the event was frightened by the attack, and ran away. People who were not the target of the attack also sustained injuries,” said a resident from Pauk Kwel village.
The two injured victims have been sent to the Bilin General Hospital.
HURFOM has contacted the local resistance forces regarding the attack but there has been no reply from them.
