HURFOM: On April 29th, 2024, the military junta destroyed a road connecting the villages of Kan Bauk and Na Bu Lae in Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division causing transportation problems for villagers.
“The junta claimed that members of the People’s Defense Force were using the road so they destroyed it. They deployed a lot of troops to destroy the road, no one dares to repair it,” said a local villager.
Road destruction has created transportation and livelihood problems for residents in Kha Yan Chaung, Kaung Pyan and Dike Ta Kaw villages
“If we have a medical problem at night, we have no way to go to hospital. Everyone is worried about that,” said a resident from Kan Bauk village.
In addition to the destruction of the road, junta’s troops also blocked each side of the road with a pile of soil. Therefore, local villagers are unable to drive motorcars and they have to ride motorbikes with caution.
