HURFOM: On April 19th, 2024, four youths were arrested by the military junta in Mawlamyine, Mon State after being accused that they had planned to join a PDF training.

Ko Ye Ko Pine, Ko Min Khant Nine and Ko Min Thu Rain from Rangoon and Ma Myo Thandar Aye from Sa Kine City were arrested at Zin Yaw Guest House in Hline Ward, Mawlamyine. The junta accused them of being from a PDF camp in Pain Nell Gone village, Kyike Hto Township and they planned to go to a PDF camp in Three Pagodas Pass, Karen State to join a PDF training.

It’s impossible that four of them were from Kyike Hto and went to Three Pagodas Pass to join a PDF training. They just created a story to arrest them. Their reason isn’t logical. They just wanted to arrest them,” said a former political prisoner in Mawlamyine.

The four youths planned to go to Thailand for work via an illegal route and the junta accused them of joining PDF training and arrested them, according to a source close to the military junta.

They were sent to the military interrogation center after the arrest and then, transferred to the Mawlamyine City Police Station. They were charged under the Anti-terrorist Act 52(a).

On April 29th, 2024, the junta arrested a man from Myine Thar Yar Ward, Mawlamyine after accusing him of providing financial support to the PDF and charged him with the same act.
