Members of “Pyu Saw Htee” beat a villager for riding motorbike

HURFOM: On April 21st, 2024, 40-year-old U Nine Tun from Thel Chaung village, Kan Bauk Region, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division was arrested and beaten by the members of “Pyu Saw Htee” – an armed group allied to the junta, according to a local report.
According to a local report, the military junta banned “riding a motorbike” in Kan Bauk Region since April, 2023 and they have recently banned “riding motorbike” in Thel Chaung village in March, 2024.
“Riding motorbikes has been banned for a month in the village. On that day, he went to the plantation by motorbike without noticing the “Pyu Saw Htee” group. When he reached his house at night, he was arrested and beaten. He was accused of violating the motorbike ban and selling illicit drugs.” said a family member.
His family had to pay a bribe of 700,000 MMK to Tha But Chaung Administrators for his release.
“Now, he’s receiving treatment at home. “Pyu Saw Htee” is patrolling the village by car at night. They threaten villagers with guns,” said the source.
On April 25th, 2024, 40-year-old U Win Kyaw from Tha But Chaung village, Thel Chaung village track, Kan Bauk Region was found dead following an arrest and beating by “Pyu Saw Htee”.
