Aircraft patrol worries local villagers in Kyarinnseikyi

HURFOM: On March 13th and 14th, 2024, military aircraft patrolled over villages in Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State which are under the control of the New Mon State Party (AD – Anti Military Dictatorship) and local villagers are now worrying about possible armed clashes.
“Yesterday (March 14), two aircraft were flying over Win Yaw Seik Kyi, Line Ka Ne and Win Kabar village three times,” said a resident from Kyarinnseikyi Township.
Mon villages in Kyarinnseikyi Township such as Taung Pauk, Win Yaw Seik Kyi, Line Ka Ne and Win Kabar have never experienced armed clashes before but with the aircraft sightings, villagers began digging bomb shelters for safety. Villagers are also packing their belongings in preparation to flee their homes.
“We’ve never experienced aircraft patrol in Line Ka Ne. At the moment, both Mon and Karen armed groups are active in our area. The local villagers are worrying about potential air assault. Some villagers are preparing to flee home,” said a Line Ka Ne resident.
On March 10 2024, the NMSP (AD) released a statement banning local villagers in Kyarinnseikyi Township from organizing festive events or music shows.
