Couple from Wa Gone village not released yet

HURFOM: On February 19th, 2024, a couple from Wa Gone village, Dawei Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta. They have not yet been released.
A Wa Gone resident informed HURFROM, “While being arrested, both of them had gunshot wounds. They were taken to “Kyauk Mae Taung” police station. They’ve not been released yet.”
The military junta shot them, and the husband suffered an arm injury and the wife had an injury to her leg.
“The column of military trucks is still at the place where the armed clash broke out. So, the villagers haven’t returned to the village,” said a local source.
On February 25th, 2024, there was an armed clash between the military junta and the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army near Taung Tone Lone village, Dawei Township, and many residents, including those from nearby villages, had to flee their homes.
