Junta’s troops shoot villager and steal from 100 houses in Yebyu

HURFOM: On March 3rd, 2024, a military regiment with nearly 50 troops entered Ya Line village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division. During their invasion, the junta shot and injured a villager and burgled more than 100 houses. They looted many valuable things, local villagers told HURFOM.
The regiment entered the village in the morning and they shot and injured a man who was returning from offering food to the village monastery.
“They shot heavy and small weapons upon entering the village. The man who was shot by the military sustained injury to his leg. He was able to receive treatment,” said a Ya Line resident.
Indiscriminate shooting forced the villagers to flee their homes and then junta troops burgled more than 100 houses and shops and stole many valuable things and food.
On February 27, 2024, the junta also arrested two Ya Line villagers, family members have not been able to have contact with them since their arrest.
