HURFOM: On January 31, 2024, joint revolutionary forces attacked two police stations in Ah Nin and Htin Shu villages, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State and an intense battle ensued with the military junta.

The military junta launched air assaults and injured at least three civilians. The victims were a novice, a 40-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman. Additionally, at least two houses were damaged by the air assaults.

The joint revolutionary forces withdrew from the villages and junta’s troops launched operations in the villages. They blocked villagers attempting to flee their homes.

When the armed clash started, villagers were frightened and dared to go nowhere. Some villagers have taken shelter in the monastery while some are hiding in the plantation. As the soldiers have stationed themselves in the village, we’re worrying if they will burn down the village,” said an Ah Nin villager.

As the military tension persists, schools were closed as of January 31, 2024.
