Two civilians injured by artillery attack in Kaw Ka Rate

HURFOM: On the evening of October 6th, 2023, two artillery shells were dropped and exploded in Kaw Ka Rate Town, Karen State and the explosion injured a 10-year-old child and 46-year-old man, according to a local rescue team.

There was no armed clash. A child and a man were injured. The child has a minor injury but Ko Aung Ko Latt was sent to Hpa-An General Hospital. Many pieces of the bomb shell were sent into his body, said a Kaw Ka Rate resident.

The child was also sent to Kaw Ka Rate General Hospital by the local rescue team for further treatment.

On October 3, 2023, another artillery explosion took place in An Pha Kyi village, Kaw Ka Rate Township and injured a 56-year-old woman who sustained injuries to her abdomen, according to the statement by the Karen National Union.

The revolutionary forces had previously launched a major huge attack to take the control of Kaw Ka Rate Town and on February 2, 2023, the military junta announced the town would be governed by martial law.
