Three Kan Bauk residents accused of providing financial support to PDF

HURFOM: On September 7, 2023, three family members from Mya Thidar Ward, Kan Bauk Town, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division were arrested by the military junta after being accused of providing financial support to the People’s Defense Forces (PDF).
Neighbours told HURFOM that the family was robbed by armed gunmen.
“At about noon on September 7, they went to Yebyu for a family matter and on their way back home, they were robbed. Their money and car was taken from them. The robbers were covering their faces and holding guns. They had to return home by public transportation,” said a source close to the family.
The family lost 20 million MMK in the robbery but the junta accused them of giving that money to the PDF.
A resident close to the family said the 60-year-old U Hla Tun, his son and his brother-in-law were arrested at their home, by junta members with the Mawrawaddy Navy Command.
The exact reason for the arrest remains unknown, and the three men have not been released.
