HURFOM: Fighting has continued in Tanintharyi, where junta forces carried out airstrikes and ground assaults that left destruction and fear across several villages. Around noon on October 27, junta aircraft bombed Lay Mine Village in Tanintharyi Township while clashes with local resistance forces were underway.

According to residents, the attacks intensified throughout the afternoon. Around 2 p.m., a fighter jet dropped a bomb and opened fire with machine guns from the air. Continuous artillery shelling followed, and one round struck a home in Lay Mine Village, setting it ablaze.

Two days earlier, on October 25, junta troops retreating from the area destroyed a house in Phar Ni Village and looted valuables and household items from about 20 nearby homes. “They went through every cabinet and box, taking whatever they wanted and leaving behind broken things,” said a woman from the village.

On October 22, an artillery shell fired by the junta’s 556th Light Infantry Battalion exploded in Phar Ni Village, injuring seven civilians. As of October 28, residents reported that junta troops had returned to Phar Ni Village, where many people had already fled for safety.

The repeated air and ground assaults have left the area in a state of fear and uncertainty, with many families displaced and unable to return home.
