October 25, 2025
Junta troops advancing near Pala Town in Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region, have set fire to homes in Thingan Taw Village, according to local residents.
At around 2 p.m. on October 24, heavy clashes broke out between the Junta forces and local resistance groups near Thingan Taw Village. Residents reported that artillery shelling continued until around 7 p.m., as troops from the State Administration Council (SAC) fired continuously toward the area.
By around 3:30 p.m., soldiers were seen entering the village and deliberately setting houses on fire.
“We could see the fires burning from a distance. Before entering the village, they fired indiscriminately with heavy weapons. Many houses are believed to be destroyed, but we still don’t know the exact number of those damaged or burned. Even now, we can still hear artillery firing,” said one local resident.
Fighting between Junta forces and resistance troops has been ongoing for several days around Thingan Taw and nearby villages. Most civilians have already fled their homes and are now sheltering in nearby forests or displacement sites for safety.
Earlier, on October 21, the Junta’s air force dropped two bombs near Thingan Taw Village using jet fighters. Similarly, on October 16, the military launched airstrikes on neighboring Tanshin Village, dropping two bombs and firing machine guns from the aircraft.
These repeated attacks have caused widespread fear and destruction, leaving villagers displaced and struggling to survive amid ongoing conflict in Palaw Township.
