Military advance forces villages alongside Mudon – Kyarinnseikyi Motorway flee homes

HURFOM: Since the third week of September, 2025, the junta’s army had cooperated with the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) and launched military operation alongside the Mudon – Kyarinnseikyi Motorway which connects Mudon Township, Mon State and Kyarinnseikyi Township, Karen State.

During the operation, there were confrontations with the joint revolutionary forces and the Chaung Hna Kaw based junta’s regiment launched indiscriminate artillery attacks.

Residents from Than Pa Yar, Hta Kha Name, Pha Yar Gone, Chaung Hna Kwa, Ma Yit and Aung Chan Thar villages alongside the motorway have to flee home.

The army has frequently targeted Than Pa Yar with indiscriminate artillery attacks. As far as l know, there are about 400 displaced villagers from Chaung Hna Kwa, Pa Yit and Than Pa Yar. Villagers from Nan Tie Tun, Win Ka and Nan Par also have to flee,” said a resident from Kyarinnseikyi.

The junta’s army has launched military operation alongside Mudon – Kyarinnseikyi, Kyikemayaw – Kyarinnseikyi and Kamarwet – Kyarinnseikyi Motorways and its regiments have occupied Than Pa Yar and Dar Le villages.

On September 21st and 22nd, the junta’s army had had confrontation with the joint revolutionary forces and the army indiscriminately launched artillery attacks to nearby villages.

A local source reported HURFOM the junta had launched military operation alongside motorways in Kyarinnseikyi Township to take control Three Pagoda Pass ahead of the upcoming election.

After the list of townships to host elections was released, the army started indiscriminate artillery attacks. On September 15th, the DKBA based in Joe Balu village, Three Pagoda Pass blocked all village roads which have access to the Kyarinnseikyi – Kyikemayaw Motorway,” said the villager.

On September 13th, the junta’s army killed 50-year-old Nine Win Aung from Than Pa Yar village and five other fishermen from the same village were arrested by the army on September 16th.
