Health workers and family members from Kan Bauk village released

HURFOM: On May 30th, 2025, the Mawrawaddy Navy Unit arrested two health workers and two of their family members from Kan Bauk village, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division.

Former Health Worker U Kyaw Soe Win, Health Worker Daw Zin Maw Nine, her mother Daw Than Than May, and her younger Brother Ko Htet Htet Tun were all released on June 16th.

Daw Zin Maw Nile, an active health worker from the Kan Bauk Hospital and U Kyaw Soe Win were both dismissed from their jobs for being involved in the “2021 people movement”.

All of them were released. I don’t know if they were released after paying money or released on bail. But they’re home now,” said one villager.

The junta arrested the four after accusing them of providing support to the People’s Defense Force.

In the last week of May, 2025, the junta also arrested a woman from Min Thar village, Yebyu Township. She has not been released as of today.

From January to June, 2025, at least 20 civilians from Yebyu and Dawei Townships were arrested by the junta; none have been released as of today.
