Junta arrests more than 230 Tenasserim residents within a month

HURFOM: During the month of April, 2025, the military junta arrested 232 residents, including school teachers who were involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement – CDM. The arrests took place at their homes or in the streets.

50 residents were released in the first and second weeks of May 2025, but the remaining 182 residents remain in detention.

Currently, there have been intense battles in Dawei and Myeik District, Tenasserim Division and more than 75,300 residents have had to flee their homes due to the junta’s constant air assaults and artillery attacks.

In April, 2025, Thai authorities sent back more than 200 Burmese citizens attempting to enter Thailand with proper documentation, but the military junta arrested 157 and forced them into military service.
