They have been launching artillery attacks for two days. Yesterday, artillery shells dropped in the Dawei River and the island. Today, March 12th, two artillery shells dropped at the seaport near the village and one artillery shell dropped in the village cemetery. There have been no casualties, but we dare not stay in the village due to constant artillery attack,” said a displaced villager.

Villagers have been taking shelter at Lay Toon Khan, Ka Taung Ne and Ka Dat Ngae and some are hiding in nearby farmlands and alongside streams.

The artillery shells dropped at 10 pm and those who had motorbikes drove away. We had to cross the nearby farmland and run to neighboring villages. Lots of villagers had to flee home,” said a resident.
