Blind, elderly woman injured by artillery attack in Yebyu

HURFOM: On January 15th, 2025, the military junta launched artillery attacks on Nat Kwin and nearby villages, Yebyu Township, Tenasserim Division. The attack injured a blind elderly woman. There have been no active armed clashes in the area.
The artillery shell exploded on a house and debris penetrated the back of Daw Than Ye, who is blind and over 50 years old.
“The junta launched two artillery attacks and one of the artillery shells dropped outside the village while another one dropped on the house of the grandma,” said a local villager who prefers to remain anonymous.
The villagers said an artillery regiment based in Kyauk Ka Nyar is responsible for the attack. Some houses in the village were burnt down and destroyed by the artillery attack, which has led some villagers to flee from their homes.
On January 4th, 2025, the junta’s artillery attacks also injured a 60-year-old man and a young lady from Inn Pyar village, Yebyu Township.
