HURFOM: Since January 9th, 2025, frequent armed clashes have led to constant military tension in Kyone Long (old) village, Ye Township, Mon State. Recently two local men were killed between Kyone Long (old) village and Kyike Hin O village.
Military junta’s troops have stationed themselves at the “Bo Ka Lay” monastery and they arrested a monk from the monastery.
“The arrested monk was released on the same day. The dead bodies of the two villagers were abandoned beside the street. The villagers saw them when running away. They didn’t look closely so they didn’t know their identities. They might be migrant workers,” said a resident.
The military junta has been reinforcing their troop presence in Kyone Long (old) village and military tensions are ongoing.
“There are no active armed clashes but the junta has reinforced their troops. There has been an aerial patrol today,” said a local villager who lives nearby Kyone Long village.
The junta has also launched artillery and air assaults forcing hundreds of local villagers from five villages including Kyone Long, Well Bine and Well Zin village to flee their homes.
