Woman steps on landmine and lose her left foot in Tenasserim

HURFOM: On November 29th, 2024, 27-year-old woman Ma Thandar Oo from Ram Pho village, Ban La Mut village track, Tenasserim Township, Tenasserim Division had stepped on a landmine while going to collect betel nuts and lost her left foot, according to a local source.

The landmine was planted by the junta’s regiment that launched military operation to Ban La Mut village track,” claimed a local villager.

The injured woman has been receiving treatment at the Myeik General Hospital and her condition is not life-threatening.

On November 14th, 2024, the military junta had planted landmine nearby Tone Byaw village located on Myeik-Tenasserim Highway Road and the landmine explosion killed a son and injured a father.

According to the data collected by HURFOM, on November 10th, 2024, a 40-year-old woman from Ya Line village, Yebyu Township stepped on a landmine in a rubber plantation and sustained an injury.
