Junta’s regiment burns down houses and arrests villagers in Tenasserim

HURFOM: In the morning of November 23rd, 2024, a junta’s regiment consisting of 80 troops based in Za Well village entered Pyin Won village, Tenasserim Township, Tenasserim Division. The regiment burnt down houses and arrested villagers, according to the locals and resistance forces.
The regiment burnt down six houses and arrested two Pyin Won residents – a 40-year-old man and a 50-year-old man.
“Before entering the village, the regiment ran into landmines at the Kyouk Chaung Mount between Ram Pho and Sin Din villages and a number of soldiers were killed. As far as I know, six houses were burnt down. They also arrested two house owners,” said a Pyin Won resident.
The regiment has scattered their troops in Pyin Won village forcing the entire village to flee home.
“The regiment is still in the village. No one dares to return at the moment,” said a displaced villager.
The regiment also launched a military operation targeting Ram Pho village and arrested two male plantation workers – a 40-year and a 20-year-old.
All four arrested villagers were released in the forest between Ram Pho and Ban La Mot villages on November 24th, 2024.
