Two locals injured in shooting incident in R Yu Taung village

HURFOM: At approximately 9 am on November 23rd, 2024, the “Ye Ba Lue” Group, an armed resistance group operating in Ye Township, Mon State, attacked members of the local militia group in R Yu Taung village, Ye Township.
51-year-old U Aung Win sustained a gunshot wound to his lower body and 53-year-old Daw Myint San sustained an injury to her left knee. Both are from Thaung Pyin village.
“The vehicle of “donation recipients” passed near the administration office at the time of the shooting incident. They got shot and injured. They are receiving treatment in the Ye General Hospital,” said a local source.
Retired Captain Lin Oo, the administrator and the leader of the militia group, sustained a serious injury and he is in critical condition. In addition, two houses and a motorcar near the administration office were damaged during the shooting.
“Some villagers said Lin Oo was dead. Some said he wasn’t dead but has received treatment in a hospital. We don’t know exactly,” said a villager.
After the incident, a large number of troops from the military regiment entered R Yu Taung village and conducted search and interrogation.
The “R Yu Taung local militia group” has installed security gates along R Yu Taung-Ye Highway Road and has been extorting money from residents and travelers.
