Junta launches military operation; arrests and beats villager, robs homes in Htein Twin village

HURFOM: On November 18^th, 2024, the junta launched a military operation in Htein Twin village, Long Lone Township, Tenasserim Division. They had arrested and beat nearly 100 villagers as well as looting valuables from residents’ homes.

After the armed clash in Sin Sake and Eain Shay Pyin Wards, Dawei City, a regiment consisting of about 100 troops entered Htein Twin village by boats.

“They looted motorbikes and valuable things and searched and destroyed houses. They also arrested lots of villagers. They beat and interrogated two adults and one young man,” said a displaced villager.

The regiment then moved on to Na Khan Taw village on November 19^th where they released the arrested villagers.

“They carried the things they looted with a lorry truck. Even if the regiment left the village, the villagers dare not return home,” said a displaced resident from Htein Twin village.

The regiment also tried to stop a truck that passed through Htein Twin village but the truck did not stop. Then, the regiment shot at and stopped the truck. A man sustained an injury and the regiment destroyed the truck.

The junta has launched a prolonged military operation in Long Lone Township and forced nearly 10,000 residents to flee their homes in October, 2024, reported FE5 Tanintharyi.
