Local man injured during shooting incident in Long Lone

HURFOM: On November 14^th, 2024, an armed group attacked the junta’s security gate located between the Long Lone Police Station and the “Wut Yut” Monastery in Ward D, Long Lone Town, Tenasserim Division.

A 50-year-old local man, U Hla Myo sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the incident. The military junta has arrested two local women, Ma San Po and Ma E Tone, at their houses. Both live in the west part of the Long Lone.

“During the shooting incident, U Hla Myo suddenly appeared behind the police station. He was shot and sustained an injury to his leg. Ma San Po and Ma E Tone were arrested at their houses and the junta also seized 30 million MMK in cash,” said a Long Lone resident.

U Hla Myo has been receiving treatment at the Dawei General Hospital.

Local people reported to HURFOM that the junta also launched artillery attacks during the incident and some shells exploded among houses in the west part of the “Wut Yut” Monastery.

On November 12th, 2024, the military junta arrested six local men from some wards in Long Lone Town and family members have lost contact with them since their arrest.
